Zach Dillon, DNP, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CPATP
Zach Dillon, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider, has been in practice at Awakenings KC Clinical Neuroscience Institute since March of 2022. Currently, he serves as the lead ketamine therapist and nurse practitioner, evaluating and treating patients with various types of mental health conditions. Zach has an extensive background in emergency, flight, and critical care nursing. After working in one of the largest psychiatric emergency departments in Kansas City, Truman Medical Center, he completed his master’s degree in nursing and obtained national board certification as a family nurse practitioner. As a nurse practitioner, he spent almost four years working for the department of trauma surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In 2020 he began working on his doctoral research at Wichita State University, investigating the effects of ketamine for major depressive disorder. His research study was completed and presented in 2022, earning his doctoral degree in nursing practice. During his doctoral program at Wichita State, Zach was accepted into a yearlong fellowship training program, in psychedelic assisted therapy, at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute in Boulder, Colorado. His training focused on the therapeutic use of ketamine, psilocybin, and MDMA, for the treatment of mental health conditions. In 2022, he completed his fellowship training and passed the certification exam to become a Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider. Zach has a deep passion advancing therapeutic treatments and helping patients get to the root cause of their ailments. In his spare time Zach enjoys traveling and spending time at the lake with his family.
Suzanne Swain, MSN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC
Suzanne Swain, MSN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years of behavioral healthcare experience. Her goal is to give each patient high quality healthcare through active listening and thoughtful questioning. She makes it a priority to educate her patients and their families on their mental health diagnosis and their treatment plan. She is committed to helping her patients every step of the way toward happy and healthy lives.
Amelia Hess, LPC
Amelia Hess is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor, practicing under licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Becky Milks. Amelia received her Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Mental Health from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2022 and has been in practice at Awakenings since January of 2023. She is accepting new clients. Amelia’s therapeutic interests include working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management, and more. Amelia’s populations of interest include adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, and neurodivergent individuals. Amelia’s counseling style is a person-centered, interpersonal process approach which she supplements with evidence-based interventions from acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques.
