Miguel Stamati, MD

Dr. Miguel Stamati is a highly regarded psychiatrist. He practices at Awakenings KC in Prairie Village, KS, offering both in-person and virtual sessions.

He earned his medical degree from the National University of Córdoba and brings a comprehensive understanding of diverse mental health needs. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Stamati combines his clinical knowledge with a compassionate approach, focusing on tailored care that supports each patient’s mental and emotional well-being. His practice encourages personal growth and resilience through individualized treatment pathways.



Loise Wameithi, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Loise is a board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who has been with Awakenings KC since 2025. She supports clients through medication management, lifestyle modification strategies and compassionate, evidence-based approach to care. A long-time healthcare professional in the Kansas city community, Loise earned her degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). Her passion lies in helping clients succeed on their mental health journey with empathy, understanding, and respect. She believes that everyone deserves to live a happy, healthy life-and it is her goal to help each person reach their full potential and life goals. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and travelling to explore new parts of the world.




Amelia Hess, LCPC

Amelia Hess is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Amelia received her Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Mental Health from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2022 and has been in practice at Awakenings since January of 2023. Amelia’s therapeutic interests include working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management, and more. Amelia’s populations of interest include adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, and neurodivergent individuals. Amelia’s counseling style is a person-centered, interpersonal process approach which she supplements with evidence-based interventions from acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques.




Melissa Stannard, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Melissa Stannard is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Awakenings KC, providing in-person and telehealth care at the Prairie Village, Kansas office. She offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and individualized treatment planning, drawing on more than 16 years of nursing and advanced practice experience across complex clinical settings.
Melissa earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Southern University. She is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and has served as a clinical educator on addiction.
Her clinical interests include general psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, dual-diagnosis treatment, interventional psychiatry, perinatal mental health, and integrative approaches to wellness. Melissa is committed to delivering evidence-based, trauma-informed care that recognizes each individual’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals while focusing on a functional model of mental healthcare.
Guided by an inclusive, whole-person approach, Melissa believes effective mental health care extends beyond symptom management to support overall well-being and resilience. Her goal is to help patients restore balance, cultivate hope, and achieve meaningful, lasting improvements in their quality of life. Outside of her professional work, Melissa is a proud mother, lifelong athlete, and outdoor enthusiast who enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and her dogs.




Scott Hassler, LCSW, LAC

Scott Hassler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addiction counselor. Scott has been practicing in the community for 15 years and has led our intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Awakenings since 2018. He specializes in general mental health, trauma, substance use and dependence, and behavioral addictions. Scott uses an organic approach that meets the client where they are at, focusing on strengths, and always respecting one’s right to determine how they want to proceed in their therapy experience. Scott has extensive experience in both individual and group therapy settings and uses motivational interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other modalities.




Jessica Majhor, TMS & Mental Health Care Coordinator

Jessica Majhor is a TMS & Mental Health Care Coordinator and has been with Awakenings since November 2024. Jess is highly knowledgeable about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Spravato®, intranasal ketamine, and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services at Awakenings KC. As a Care Coordinator, it is her job to connect each patient with the best service for them. Jess has a passion for helping patients gain access to care focused on bettering their mental health. Jess’s background is in psychology, and she is currently a mental health counselor in training at UMKC.
